Referring Professionals

Working Collaboratively with Health Professionals

Every time a health professional makes a referral to a treatment program, we realize that they’re putting their credibility on the line. At Lakeside Behavioral Health System, we understand this and want to make sure you feel good about your choice.

When referring a patient to Lakeside:

  • You will have immediate access to services.
  • Your patient will receive high-quality treatment.
  • You will have an opportunity to be involved.
  • You will be informed.
  • You will be who they continue to see when they leave our care.

Making a Referral to Lakeside

We accept and schedule admissions 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. When you call, a qualified mental health professional is available to assist you. We are invested in providing patients with the skills necessary to maintain a high quality of life, and we conduct interviews with patients (and parents, when a patient is a minor) at intervals post-discharge to determine the effectiveness of treatment. This information is available at your request.

For admissions to Lakeside’s Cresthaven Residential Program, patients must have a primary diagnosis of chemical dependency and may also have a co-occurring mental health disorder. Those who are most appropriate for the program and will benefit from our intensive recovery treatment are individuals who have failed outpatient treatment programs or have dealt with chronic relapse patients. We are uniquely equipped to serve healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses and pharmacists, legal professionals, nonpsychotic dual diagnosis patients and professionals who work in DOT-related organizations.

Referrals may be made by calling 800-232-5253 or 901-377-4733.

Communication, Participation and Patient Progress

At Lakeside, we understand the importance of adequate communication. We will notify you of progress from the time you make the referral until the patient returns to your office for a follow-up appointment. Communication expectations vary from professional to professional so we depend on you to let us know the frequency and means of this communication. We respect your knowledge of the patient and family dynamics, and we invite you to participate in treatment team meetings in person or via teleconference.

We employ several former private practice professionals who understand the importance of receiving clients back after discharge. We will contact you for an outpatient appointment prior to discharge. Further, we will make sure you have the necessary documentation before your patient is back in your office for an appointment.
