What to Bring

Keeping Our Facility Secure

Lakeside Behavioral Health System is dedicated to providing a secure and comfortable healing environment for our patients. We encourage our patients to bring personal items to make their stay as comfortable as possible. As you pack, please be mindful that your personal storage space is limited. If you have any questions as you prepare, please contact us for answers. 

To ensure the security of patients, staff and visitors, the following items are considered contraband and are not allowed on our patient floors at Lakeside Behavioral Health System. Items on this list will be sent home or stored in a safe area outside the treatment unit for pick up upon patient discharge.

Items NOT ALLOWED During Treatment

  • No food, snacks, or drinks
  • No clothing or shoes containing strings.(Strings can be removed only upon request)
  • No clothing containing spandex (This includes leggings, jeggings, tights, aerobic pants, and biking shorts.)
  • No belts, straps, ties, scarves, or bandanas
  • No flip flop style sandals (slide style sandals are permitted)
  • No tank tops, spaghetti string tops, sleeveless shirts or undershirts
  • No personal blankets, pillows, towels, or linens
  • No bras with underwire are allowed
  • No wigs, hair extensions, caps, hats, or head coverings.
  • No clothing with rips or holes (Adolescent units only)
  • No clothing containing musicians, skulls, or camouflage (Adolescent units only)
  • No hygiene items containing alcohol DENAT/SD alcohol (Products with high alcohol content) Examples: Aim/Close-up, or Pepsodent toothpaste. Items containing scope
  • No hygiene items with a pump
  • No glass items/spray cans or aerosol
  • No bar soap (Liquid bodywash or soap only)
  • No razors
  • No opened pack of cigarettes, tobacco, or chew (Seal must be intact)
  • No pre-rolled/loose cigarettes, vape pens, lighters or matches

Additional Contraband for Patients Under 18

  • Cigarettes
  • Magnetic toys
  • Jewelry (including tongue rings and belly button rings)
  • Jeans or pants with rips or holes, band logo t-shirts, clothing with writing
  • Underwire bras

Lakeside Behavioral Health System’s Assessment Center is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide a no-cost mental health assessment for you, your loved one, or your patient/client.
