Our Mental Health Services for Seniors
At Brunswick Place, our specialized inpatient treatment helps older adults transition back to their daily lives with as much self-sufficiency as possible. We draw on a range of evidence-based therapies to help people achieve their goals and cope with the challenges of aging.
Our treatments for older adults include:
- Psychiatric stabilization: We offer 24/7 hospitalization for people in an acute psychiatric crisis. During short-term stabilization, we focus on suicide prevention, medication therapy, detox (if necessary), and individual and group counseling. After stabilization, patients transition to our residential program at Brunswick Place.
- Medication management: Medical staff carefully reviews each patient’s current medications. We monitor medications closely to prevent side effects and negative drug interactions. Patients with substance use issues may require medication to reduce cravings or manage withdrawal symptoms.
- Group therapy: Daily group therapy sessions, led by a licensed therapist, build community and camaraderie among our residents. People share their challenges with the aging process and learn coping skills for continued growth and healing.
- Physical and occupational therapy: We help patients with assistive devices (wheelchairs or walkers) and mobility challenges. Therapy staff is specially trained to assist patients with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, eating and using the bathroom. We also offer memory care for people with dementia or memory loss.
- Recreational and expressive therapies: We encourage therapies that keep patients active, social and engaged. Music therapy, art therapy, chair and yoga exercises, pet therapy and relaxation activities are just a few of the holistic treatments we offer.
