Mental Health Care for Veterans and Active-Duty Military: Why Choose Us?

Lakeside is a proud member of the Universal Health Services Patriot Support Programs. This designation means we offer specialized services that address the unique stressors and experiences of military service. In addition, national accreditation from The Joint Commission® demonstrates our commitment to providing the highest quality care.

Highlights of our Patriot Support Program include:

  • TRICARE®-approved rehab facility: We are TRICARE® in-network, which makes it easy for you or your loved ones to get the care you need. We are here 24/7 to provide no-cost assessments, insurance verification and prompt admission into our acute inpatient, residential or outpatient programs.
  • Seamless care coordination: Psychiatrists and licensed therapists work closely with referring agencies, military liaisons and Veterans Affairs (the VA). We offer comprehensive discharge planning to help you transition back into civilian or military life and connect you to the support services you need after treatment.
  • Flexible programming: Our range of programs allows you to select the environment where you feel most comfortable. You may choose to receive treatment with other military members or recover in our substance use treatment program or mental health program for older adults.
  • Support for families: We offer comprehensive services for loved ones affected by military life. Spouses, children and other dependents who have depression, stress, loneliness or behavioral challenges can get care at Lakeside. Our Mental and Behavioral Health Services for Military

Combat, multiple deployments, family separation and other stressors can affect your mental and emotional health in many ways. Our dedicated military unit means you receive care that’s tailored to your needs. We educate staff on military culture and sensitivities so you can recover in an empathetic, nonjudgmental environment.

Our mental health treatments for veterans and active-duty service members include:

  • Crisis stabilization: We provide emergency stabilization and detoxification in the event of a psychiatric or substance use crisis. You receive around-the-clock care in our acute inpatient unit from physicians, nurses and mental health technicians.
  • Medication management: You may receive medication (short-term or long-term) to manage the symptoms of a mental health condition or drug or alcohol withdrawal. We combine medication with psychotherapy and other treatments to help you achieve a successful outcome.
  • Group therapy: Group counseling sessions, led by a licensed therapist, establish trust and camaraderie. Patients share their experiences in a nonthreatening environment, learn coping skills and build resiliency.
  • Trauma-informed care: We help you understand how trauma, such as combat, violence or sexual assault, affects your daily life and emotional health. Our specialized trauma resolution track focuses on preventing re-traumatization, easing PTSD symptoms and helping you heal.
