ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Recovery Academy is a treatment program for girls and boys age 12 through 17 (or 18-year-olds who still in high school) who are having problems with substance abuse and/or general psychiatric disorders. The program also is effective for adolescents dealing with a history of self-injury, cutting, anxiety, eating disorders and anger.
Adolescent substance abuse and emotional problems affect the entire family. The unique Recovery Academy Parent program plays a vital role in recovery. While adolescents are in treatment, parents participate in multi-family parent support groups and family therapy.
The program includes an intensive, curriculum designed to educate and train parents in the 12-Step recovery program, trust, communication, limit setting, parenting in today’s society and preparing for the adolescent’s return home. The parent program allows parents to understand substance abuse and psychiatric issues better and to develop a support system by knowing other parents with similar problems.
Academics are provided through Brunswick Day School.
