The Landing – Addiction Services

Individualized Substance Abuse Treatment

An addiction to alcohol or drugs is often accompanied by a secondary, significant condition that can dramatically affect recovery. Many who struggle with substance abuse also suffer from a co-occurring mental health issue that exacerbates their addiction. These mental health issues can include depression, anxiety and panic disorders, previous abuse or trauma, and other emotional problems. When these diseases are treated simultaneously, lasting healing can be achieved.

We know that chemical dependency is not a character deficiency or moral weakness. It is a progressive, potentially fatal disease that has a long-term emotional and physical impact on the individual and the whole family. When it is accompanied by other mental health issues, it is essential to treat both. These addictive behaviors are more likely to continue unless these co-occurring disorders are recognized and treated.

Lakeside Behavioral Health System has decades of experience dealing with psychiatric illness and substance addictions. The objective of Addictions Services at The Landing is to return a person to their daily routine as soon as possible.

Treatment Phases

  • Evaluation and Assessment
Treatment begins with a comprehensive assessment that sets the foundation for each patient’s personal treatment plan. A therapist helps identify specific treatment goals to best address a patient’s unique needs.
  • Detoxification
When deemed necessary, a patient will undergo the effective and secure management of withdrawal from alcohol and drugs in an inpatient setting before proceeding with treatment.
  • Rehabilitation
The main phase of treatment involves the completion of a treatment plan, which generally includes group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy and activity therapy. A daily schedule includes focused goal-setting, group therapy and educational groups in which patients address the issues that have disrupted their lives. A patient may be assigned to a special program, such trauma resolution or even suicide intervention, if needed.
  • Partial Hospitalization (PHP)
Once a patient has completed programming within the hospital, a step-down to outpatient programming occurs. During this phase of treatment, group and individual therapy programming occur during the day and the patient returns to the community in the evenings. A boarding PHP option is available as necessary.
  • Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
In this phase, the patient participates in group therapy at least three days per week.
  • Continuing Care
Providing a comprehensive and continuing system of support after discharge, this involves ongoing access to the hospital staff, continuing individual and group therapy sessions, and family support as well as referral to monitoring or an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) program.
