Meet Our Executive Team

Joy Golden, Chief Executive Officer

Joy Golden is Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for Lakeside Behavioral Health System. A healthcare industry veteran, Golden began her career in 1976 at Methodist Healthcare as Corporate Human Resources Director, where she managed labor and employee relations, risk management, benefits administration, the employee health clinic and functioned as the legal consultant for the hospital’s Air Wing Ambulance Service. She graduated summa cum laude from Tusculum College in 1986 with a bachelor of science degree, acquired her bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) in 1996 and began working as a psychiatric nurse at Lakeside in 1997, first as Charge Nurse, then as House Supervisor, and Chief Nursing Officer. From 1992 to 1999, prior to being named CEO at Lakeside, Golden taught Labor Relations and Employment Law at the University of Tennessee College of Allied Health. She also served as Senior Human Resources Director of Golden Innovations, formerly Beverly Enterprises, Inc. In 2010, Golden graduated from the University of Phoenix with a master’s degree in nursing (MSN). She makes her home in Arlington, Tennessee, with her husband, daughter and grandchildren.

Dan Boyd, MD, Medical Director

Dan Boyd, MD takes over as Medical Director for Lakeside effective November 1, 2020. Since 2011, Dr. Boyd has also served as the Medical Director of Lakeside’s Neuroscience Center.

As a teaching hospital, Lakeside supports residents from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Medicine, where Dr. Boyd has served as Clinical Faculty in the Department of Psychiatry since 2009.

Dr. Boyd has served in various other roles at Lakeside during his tenure on the Medical Executive Committee of Lakeside.

Dr. Boyd is a graduate of University of Tennessee School of Medicine (1990), completed a Pediatric Internship at Baylor College of Medicine (1990-1991), and was a Psychiatry Resident at Vanderbilt School of Medicine (1990-1994). He is board certified in both psychiatry and addiction medicine. He is a member of the Tennessee Medical Association and Memphis & Shelby County Medical Society.
